10 Tips to make your life better.

We're all looking to make life a little bit better everyday. Happiness is seemingly everyone's goal.

Yet, there is a large percentage of people who live in discontent nowadays. The best way to start becoming the person you actually want to be is to change how you live. These 10 tips are just a few of the ways to start making each day a little better.

But remember, none of these will help unless you actually incorporate them into each day consistently. That takes us into our first tip.

Tip 1: Take Action

We live in a world full of distractions, there's no denying that. If you want to improve your life you have to overcome these distractions. People will tell you they don't have enough time to take action, then spend 5+ hours a day mindlessly scrolling through social media, watching Netflix, playing video games, and obsessing over politics. Taking action in its most rudimentary form is doing something. Begin a to-do list for each day. Watch yourself become more productive. Knowledge is power only when it's put to action.

Tips 2: Read

You want to invest in yourself? Read! My Twitter followers know I strongly encourage everybody to "Get a damn library card." Expanding your mind is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Books can become your greatest tool. I especially encourage you to read before falling asleep at night. Rather than mindlessly scrolling through social media, read a book for 30 minutes. It doesn't have to be stressful. Besides it's been proven that looking at a screen before you sleep has many negative side effects.

Tip 3: Spend time alone with no distractions

This is something that is very underrated. Try being alone with just your thoughts. Nothing to occupy you, nothing to do. You will find yourself diving deep into thoughts and really starting to witness your most genuine self. You don't need to spend hours a day doing this, maybe instead of listening to music on the ride to work you just drive in silence.

Find what's best for you.

Tips 4: Get on a consistent sleep schedule. Seriously.

Start going to bed at the same time every night, and especially start waking up at the same time every morning. I know everyone says this, but it's only because it is so beneficial. Waking up at the same time every morning will help regulate your sleep schedule. Among many things, getting on a consistent sleep schedule will give you more energy each day, and improve your mood.

Tip 5: Exercise

You truly are your own best investment. Here's a commonly used example. If I said I'll give you any car right now, but it's the only car you'll have the rest of your life, what would you do? You would probably take really good care of it. That's how you need to be with your body. You only get one body. Exercising and being in shape is a must-do to live a happy, healthy lifestyle. Start exercising at least 3+ times a week, and commit to improving you physique.

Tip 6: Meditate

This is another common tip that is often put to the wayside. Meditation is the best way to train your mind. All it takes is five minutes (or more) a day to center yourself and focus on your breathing. I suggest listening to "The Honest Guys" for guided meditations as they have many great meditations on youtube, Spotify, etc. Challenge yourself to take the time to meditate each day for 3 months.

Tip 7: Surround yourself with the right people

This is something that has recently began to be a lot more important to me. Finding a good group of people to surround yourself with can be a very hard thing. If you spend most of your time with people that are negative, have no ambition, live an unhealthy lifestyle, create drama, etc. How do you expect to grow? Stop spending your time with people that drag you down. If this means you have to be alone for a little while before you find some friends, that's okay. Surrounding yourself with the right people, is surrounding yourself with people that genuinely want to see you succeed.

Tip 8: Eat right, drink water

Stop eating certain diets because it's "trending" or it's what someone else is doing. Instead eat the diet that gives you the most energy, and makes you feel your best. Find what's best for you. What you put in your body is something you have control over. Drink water. Hydrate. Stop drinking things that have calories, sugar, etc. No soda. Just water. Eventually these healthy habits will become a part of your lifestyle.

Tip 9: Write

Invest in a notebook/journal right now. Writing pen to paper is a great habit. Writing in a journal at the end of each day is one of the best ways to build a better relationship with yourself. You can be completely honest with yourself and no one will judge you. You can write about literally anything. Get in the habit, and you will soon find out a lot about yourself. Some good ways to start are to write about:

- How you feel?

-What you accomplished today?

-What do you need to improve on

-What is something you're grateful for?

Try it.

Tip 10: Find good hobbies

Finding good ways to spend your extra time rather than sitting around will instantly improve your life on a day to day basis. Maybe it's learning to play an instrument, hiking, jogging, volunteering, fishing, etc. There are many ways to spend your time in a positive manner.

Now, you can read all of this, but if you don't start practicing these things none of it will make a difference.

Start making the changes today.
